The new Star Trek: Discovery TV-Series is out. When I watched it the first 2 episodes were already available. That is enough to build my opinion.
I like it – a lot. It catches somehow the spirit of the old series, but in new clothes. Yes it looks more modern than the later happening series with Captain Kirk, but be honest – Captain Kirk and his crew were made in 1960s. The action is cool, the characters I like, the cinematographie looks good, the style is perfect. The only thing I don’t like much is that they changed the design and the look of the Klingons. We are so used to the older Klingon look, that the new design is so weird (even it is based on older scripts). I mean the new Klingons look not bad with a neutral view on it, but every Star Trek fan will shout out “no – what have you done to the Klingons”. But I can live with it, because the new TV show looks awsome in my opinion. More like a shorter JJ Abrahams Star Trek Movie, than any of the other series.
Let’s see how they proceed with it.
By the way: ST Discovery plays in the Star Trek Prime Time, 10 years before the original Captain Kirk an Spock in the regular timeline.
Have a look and judge yourself.
